APRIL
Another great adventure was our trip to Nepal in 1986. We went with a group of TAFE students on a 4 weeks excursion to Kathmandu. Best was that the two of us went alone on a 2 weeks trip along the Langtang Trek. We hired a guide, 2 porters and a cook and slept mostly in a tent. We started from Trisuli and got to Syabru Village, and a bit further on to Singh Gompa, an old Buddhist Monastery at 3300m elevation. In the 1980s hiking treks in Nepal, besides the Mt Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Treks, were not so well developed for tourist as they are now. These long exhausting lonely walks along a most beautiful landscape were absolutely fabulous.
