EASTERN SUBURBS

The Eastern Suburbs Ferry goes also at 30 minutes intervals most of the time and the return trip takes 1 hour.

The city centre is at the southern side of the harbour, behind Circular Quay.

Right in the middle in the harbour is Fort Denison,

once used to isolate re-offending convicts,

then turned into a fortress

and now used as a restaurant.

Next to the Opera House is Farm Cove with the Botanical Garden.

The headland of Farm Cove is called Mrs Macquarie Point.

Next to it is Woolloomooloo Bay and Garden Island with the Naval Depot.
Garden Island is the first ferry stop.

The southern harbour foreshore is a string of beautiful bays, coves and headlands:

                          Elizabeth Bay

Darling Point

 Double Bay

Rose Bay

Nielsen Park

and Watson Bay.

I decided not to go straight back with the next return ferry, rather walk up the very short distance to the Gap and look at the ocean here too.

The Gap

The view of the entrance to Sydney Harbour is spectacular.

There were lots of sailing boats on the harbour again,
big and small, new and old,

and cruise ships too

So my lovely day of Ferry Rides came to an end.
And my Harbour Walk Project for this year is completed.
Great, but somewhat sad too.
